Saturn: Friend or Foe?

It's time for a new look at the dreaded Saturn

Do you remember when you turned 30? If you’re not there yet, maybe you’ve heard stories about the challenges of moving out of your 20s. In many ways, in a culture with few rites and rituals of maturity, turning 30 is the indisputable beginning of adulthood.

It is also the time of your first Saturn return, when Saturn in transit reaches the degree of the Zodiac where it was at the time of your birth, at around age 29. In a way, the Saturn return could be called your Saturn “awakening”.

Most astrology describes Saturn in negative terms, calling it the planet of “hard work”, limitations, pressure, and reality checks. While there is truth in those terms, they miss the purpose of the archetype of Saturn. Saturn’s work is showing you the necessity of fully embracing embodied, 3D life as the path to spiritual fulfillment.

As the archetypal authority, Saturn also tasks you with becoming the author(ity) of your own life. This process of owning your Saturn authority can feel difficult because most of us have spent our entire pre-adult lives being taught that authority is on the outside. The pressure and limitation attributed to Saturn is simply the signal to return to your own center.

Saturn stations direct this week

I’m releasing this workshop now for a couple of reasons. First, Saturn is ending its annual five month retrograde (on November 15, 2024) and we are getting a heavy dose of its pressure. Second, this seven year window of rapid change (2020-2027) is headlined by Saturn alignments. One of the most important alignments of our lifetime is Saturn’s meeting with Neptune in February of 2026 at 0 degree of Aries. This conjunction will set the tone and agenda for decades to come for the world as well as each of us individually.

Check out this video for an overview of the astro-alignments telling the story of change:

I am hosting live workshops every month to offer guidance on navigating this critical time period. Plus, I’m releasing previously recorded workshops such as this one to offer perspective and guidance on working consciously with the cosmic forces.

With this workshop, recorded in 2020 (when my hair was a lot shorter!), gain greater insight into Saturn’s work in your chart, and perhaps see the planet in a new light. The workshop covers basic facts about the planet; some of the mythology pertaining to Saturn; guidance on working with its energies; and several of my favorite examples of Saturn at work in the charts of others.

Become a paid subscriber to Co-Create with the Cosmos to get access to all workshops, live and recorded, plus discounts on readings and a private discussion group.

Saturn is the key to this time of transition

Saturn has been and continues to be one of the major players in the huge cultural shifts of our time, starting with its meeting with Pluto and Jupiter in 2020, and the massive breakdown of the systems and institutions we thought we knew.

As Saturn approaches its conjunction with Neptune through 2025 and early 2026, Saturn can be your ally as your inner authority coming further online, or it can continue to carry its cultural shadow as external authoritarian.

The more awareness and effort each of us makes to reclaim Saturn, the more we can co-create a world more like the original Golden Age, over which Saturn ruled, when humans lived in harmony with each other and the Earth.

Stay tuned here on Co-Create with the Cosmos in the coming weeks and months for more on reclaiming your Saturn, becoming (more) the authority of your own life, and releasing Saturn (and you!) from the cultural burdens of domination and authoritarianism.
